Local Artisan Mills
Community Grains offers true whole grain products – grown with integrity and whole milled to preserve the essential nutrients and robust flavors lost to industrial milling. Community Grains sells everything from wheat kernels to flour, to pasta and par-baked frozen breads. In addition to wheat they sell whole milled corn polenta. They're on a mission to build a local grain economy and have an identity preserved line of products sourced directly from organic California farmers including Fritz Durst and Paul Muller. Community Grains provides 23 Points of Identity™ on these products to inform consumers on information such as variety, crop rotations, farm labor policies, and the California Wheat Commission's grain analyses. They're also trying to move the needle on whole grain consumption in the US and offer a commodity line of products with wheat sourced directly from Bay State Milling. All of their flour is whole milled by the Air Classifier Hammer Mill at Bay State's Woodland location. Their pasta is made by Pasta Sonoma in Rohnert Park, and their bread is made by Izzio Bakery in Louisville, CO.
